Illinois Considers adopting Race Based Academic Standards

In what some refer to as a troubling trend, another state considers adopting race based academic standards. The state of Illinois is considering race based standards where evidence of achievement of state educational standards in areas such as reading will be different according to the race and economic standing of the student. Black students and those from lower incomes will be held to a lower standard than White and Asian students. Some civil rights activists believe such an approach is abandoning commitment to equity in education.
