For approximately the next year and a half, this web page will be devoted to the revision of “A Vision For A Better Education: Reducing Bias in Special Education Assessment for American Indian and African American students”.
The original manual was produced in 1998. It was designed to establish guidelines for best practices in assessments for American Indian and African-American students. Both populations of students, in Minnesota and other states, tend to be over-represented in special education programs.
Faculty members from the Department of Counseling and School Psychology, together with parents, representatives from different educational disciplines, diversity specialists, graduate students, and staff from the Minnesota Department of Education, will collaborate on the development on a revised set of guidelines.
Please bookmark this page or add to your list of favorites, and contribute your ideas on practices, procedures, or information that contribute to positive practices that support American Indian and African-American students.
